The trails

Here you are right in the heart of the Via Alpina web site: you can find out about the main characteristics of each of the five trails and virtually travel each of the stages on the maps. On each stage sheet you will find full technical information, the contact details of places to stay (or of the tourist offices that can help you to select them), references of the most useful topographical maps, but also an introduction to the natural and cultural heritage of the region as well as comments from other walkers.

Here you can also create your own personal guidebook using the information on our stage sheets and download the GPS coordinates which correspond to the tracks on the maps on the website (WGS84 UTM 32).

For more general information that could be useful for hiking on the Via Alpina, documentation and the Via Alpinists’ travel diaries refer to section
The Via Alpina as well.

Warning: the data on this website have been collected by a large number of local partners in each of the Alpine regions. They are updated at varying intervals depending on the region. We are aware that there are still some inaccuracies and differences in quality and we would be grateful if you made us aware of any that you find by using the “comments” section included on each stage sheet.
