The violet way crosses the mountainous Julian Alps, in close proximity to Slovenia's highest peak, Triglav (2,864 m), climbing which requires a small detour. This is home to two well-known flowers – the Pink Cinquefoil (legend says that it sprang up from the blood of the mythical ibex Goldenhorn), and the Edelweiss. The descent from Luknja passes under Triglav's Northern Rock Face.

Triglav (2,864m) - variation: Follow the Tominšek trail from Aljažev dom and climb to Dom V. Staniča, then walk through the rocky terrain to Triglavski dom na Kredarici. It is another 45 min hike to the summit from here. Descend from the opposite side to Tržaška koča na Doliču. The trail is very difficult and exposed but secured (via ferrata). This climb is recommended for experienced hikers only.
